IWS has introduced the Living Earth brand to Australians, using the green organics received at our site.

Creating a nutrient-rich, organic compost

Living Earth was founded in New Zealand over 20 years ago to become the largest organic waste to composting operation in the country. Their nutrient-rich, organic compost is now locally produced by IWS and available to the market in Australia.

The green organics received at IWS from metropolitan Adelaide council kerbside collection includes garden material and food organics. Once this has gone through the composting process and contamination is removed, our quality product, Living Earth Compost, is ready to use. We have also partnered with SA Mushrooms to mix their mushroom compost with ours to create a nutrient-rich output, Living Earth Compost+.

Our circular economy in action

Step 1:

Green organics are received at Wingfield. Large contaminants are removed and product is transported to Dublin Eco Hub.

Step 2:

The organics are processed and composted on site to produce high quality composts and mulches.

Step 3:

The compost purchased by local councils, farmers and the broader public. Some of the compost is also used onsite by Red Centre Enterprise in their Indigenous plants nursery and on their bush tucker farm.

Step 4:

Material used on our site is to support the native plants that have been planted to rehabilitate our site.
